OPI Sparrow Me the Drama

Description:

Described as "This cool, collected pink means business!".

Sparrow Me the Drama (such a funky name :] ) is a fairly bright pink. I don't really have anything fantastic to say about the colour. However it does seem brighter on the nails than in the bottle.

Formula & Application:

Good (normal formula for a creme polish.) This was 3 coats.

Overall:

I don't think that this polish is really anything unique or to die for. However if you enjoy pink polishes this is a nice one.

OPI Steady as She Rose

Description:

Described as being "a 'berry' sexy bloom of Dallas dahlia."

Source: http://www.wholeblossoms.com/images/Dahlia-Light-Pink-Flower.jpg

This is a pretty correct description don't you think? This is a light pink dahlia flower and the very outer  petals look just like the polish. So pretty!

Steady as She Rose is a pale dusty rose colour and is very flattering on my pale-ish skin.

Formula & Application:

The formula was good just like other OPI creme finish polishes. This is two coats.

I feel that the application of this colour was better than the application of Skull & Glossbones, also from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection.

Overall:

I would recommend this colour. I guess there are dupes out there because the colour isn't anything crazy special, but for my collection I don't have anything like it. It is a really pretty girl colour, I could see someone wearing this colour to a wedding or baby shower.

OPI Skull & Glossbones

It looks quiet light on my nails but against a white wall you can really see the grey-ness of it.

Description:
It's  described as being the "best light gray ever, no bones about it."

Skull & Glossbones is a pale grey creme polish. I think this colour is really flattering for my skin tone.

Formula & Application:

The formula for this polish was good for a creme polish. I generally enjoy the formula of creme polishes and this one wasn't a disappointment.

The application was kind of streaky, but with creme polishes I find you can avoid streaks if you don't go over the same part of polish more than once until it's completely dry.

This was 3 coats.

Overall:

I would recommend this colour, it is the most unique colour in the Pirates of the Caribbean collection and unlike anything in my collection.

Nailsg Haul

I recently placed a long awaited order with www.nailsg.com for some OPI colours. Here is what I brought. Swatches for the collections will be up next.

Pirates of the Caribbean Collection

Nice Stems Collection

I also brought a new nail wheel, but I didn't really think I needed to show that!

If you are thinking about ordering from nailsg (if you're in Singapore) then just tell the owner Audrey that I sent you and you can get your OPI colours for S$12 instead of S$15!

OPI Not Like the Movies

Description:
Not Like the Movies is from the Katy Perry Collection is one of those cool polishes that look like an oil spill. NLTM flashes green and purple in certain lights, with a silvery grey base colour and noticeable silver glitter. (Well, I say glitter but it is actually more sparse than a regular glitter polish so it doesn't make the overall polish glittery).

Natural Indoor Light - Purple
(Excuse the mess around cuticles :s )

Natural Indoor Light - Green

All colours

Here you can see the glitter at the bottom and all the colours at the top!

Formula & Application:

I found the formula of this polish is extremely thin and watery, probably the thinnest OPI polish I have. Being so watery and thin it obviously is going to take more coats to build up the polish. Below is one coat:

As you can see it is pretty streaky but the more coats you apply the less streaky it looks.

Overall:

I would say that with this polish you would definitely need 3 or more coats. I applied three medium thickness coats but I still had a still visible nail line, so I would say that this polish may look nicer on shorter cut nails. However, if I had added a fourth coat then the nail line wouldn't have been visible anymore but I didn't think it necessary because it wasn't that noticeable. Also there was some strange bubbling from the polish after three coats.

The first coat as you can see above looks more of the purple side of the polish. However after a second coat more of the green became visible. So the polish is build-able.

Downsides?
The application was pretty streaky but nothing too noticeable. Also the silver glitter does show up on the nail and does stick to the nail if no base coat is used, or isn't remove fully so beware of that.

I brought this from www.nailsg.com for SGD$15. OPI is also available at local nail salons and Sephora. Size: 15mL

Do you guys like the oil spill polishes? Which are your favourite?

First Yankee Candle Haul!! :)

Hey everyone :)

I have been wanting Yankee Candles for so long but I could never find anywhere in Singapore that sold them. Recently I have been searching online for candles, and I found a website called www.puresenses.com.sg and it sells Yankee Candles and other candles like Price candles! I saw that they had the candles in different scenters throughout Singapore. Seeing as I was already going into Orchard Road I thought I would investigate the Takashimaya section, (Basement 1, Bed & Bath Department) and I found Yankee Candles! YAY :)

So right now because we are in the GSS (Great Singapore Sale) there was an offer on 3 votives for $9.90 (original price $4.90 each). A votive/sampler candle is supposed to burn for  15 hours, however I don't think they will actually burn for that long.

Here are the ones I picked out:

L-R Beach Walk, Clean Cotton and Island Spa

On the website Beach Walk is described as being "refreshing salt water and sea musk warmed with sunny notes of tangerine and orange blossom." Occasion: Summer and Fragrance: Fresh.

Clean Cotton: "sun-dried cotton combined with green notes, white flowers and a hint of lemon." Fragrance: Fresh.

Island Spa: " a revitalizing escape with the sunny citrus aroma of crisp juicy mandarins and vibrant lemon verbena." Fragrance: Fresh.

Beach Walk smells quite relaxing and refreshing and quite clean and fruity. Clean Cotton smells just like the name, just like a freshly cleaned shirt with a refreshing hint of lemon. It is a very homely scent. Island Spa is extremely strong lemon scent, I don't know what lemon verbena is but it is so strong, luckily I like lemon so it is okay, however if you don't like lemon I wouldn't go for this scent.

L-R Lemon Lavender, Sun & Sand and Garden Sweet Pea

Lemon Lavender is described as "clean and inviting...a powdery fresh blend of tangy lemon citrus and sweet lavender flowers" Fragrance: Fresh

Sun & Sand: "a tropical breeze of sweet orange flower, lemony citrus, fresh lavender and powdery musk." Occasion: Summer Fragrance: Fresh

Garden Sweet Pea: "the sweet perfume of delicate blooms accented with hints of pear, peach, freesia and rosewood. Occasion: Spring Fragrance: Floral

Lemon Lavender lies more heavily on the lavender side, but has a sweet mellow lemon tone to it. I don't particularly like lavender because it gives me a headache, however I do find it relaxing so I can bear it in a candle. The lavender scent is very fresh and not artificial at all. Sun & Sand is very sweet and citrus-y but the lavender and musk is still noticeable. Garden Sweet Pea, I thought that I wouldn't really like this one because it is a floral and I hate floral scents because they give me a headache, however this scent is very nice. It is a soft scent with sweet floral and a hint of fruity, very spring like :)

L-R: Vanilla Lime, Bahama Breeze and Pink Sands

Vanilla Lime is described as: "smooth and refreshing, the creamy richness  of vanilla with sweet cane sugar and a zesty lime twist."

Bahama Breeze: "there's  cool summer refreshment in this tropical blend of pineapple, grapefruit and mango." Occasion: Spring, Summer Fragrance: Fruit, Seasonal

Pink Sands: "It's an exotic island escape in the beautiful mix of bright citrus, sweet florals and spicy vanilla." Occasion: Spring, Summer. Fragrance: Fresh, Seasonal.

I burned Vanilla Lime first. It smells strongly of lime in the plastic but when it is burning there is a sweet vanilla scent the tones down the lime. I think Bahama Breeze is my favourite so far, it is fruity and sweet and tangy, it is great for summer! Pink Sands is a nice, clean, sweet fragrance that is nice for any mood.

L-R: Orange Dreamsicle, Country Lemonade and Midnight Oasis
Orange Dreamsicle: "a favourite childhood summer treat you never outgrow. A cool blend of orange and vanilla ice cream." Occasion: Spring, Summer. Fragrance: Food, Seasonal.

Country Lemonade: "The perfect summer refresher with it's bright lemony aroma and just the right touch of sweetness." Occasion: Spring, Summer. Fragrance: Fruit, Seasonal.

Midnight Oasis: "Across quiet sands, a midnight breeze mixes with island citrus and warm sandalwood." Occasion: Spring, Summer. Fragrance: Fresh, Seasonal.

Orange Dreamsicle, like Vanilla Lime, smells pretty strongly of orange in the plastic but after burning it, it smelt just like an ice cream and I wanted to eat it haha! Country Lemonade smells very strongly of sharp lemons, so if you don't like lemons, I would not recommend this scent. Midnight Oasis surprised me, because I knew I would like the citrus part of it, but I had no idea what sandalwood smells like, but whatever it is I like it. In the plastic it smells like quite a unisex scent.

I had to find some place to burn the votive so me and my mum were looking in Daiso ($2 shop) and I found this candle holder, it is blue with white lace.

I also brought a book by the same author of Wicked! It looks interesting:

SGD$18.14 from Kinokuniya

Have you guys tried any Yankee Candles? Any recommendations?

See you next time!

NOTD: Green Crackle!

Hey everyone :)

Here is my most recent manicure and here are the products I used:

L-R: Revlon Multi Care Base + Top Coat, Punkyfish Silver and Yimane Jade Is The New Black (YM H45)
I only used the Revlon as a top coat. The punkyfish nail polish I got as a christmas gift like 5 years ago, it came as a set of four polishes. (Chrome Silver, Chrome Light Pink, Chrome Dark Pink and Chrome Baby Blue). The crackle polish is from www.bornprettystore.com. This one is called Jade Is The New Black (sound familiar?). They have a wide range of colours so you should definitely check them out. I also have a white and lilac crackle from there.

Here is the final product:
